Practices Using Bibs
Would you like to go to a dentist and wear a plastic bib for your appointment?
Well, unfortunately, it's not quite that simple, as most dental practices in the UK do not use them anymore. However, there are several that still do, and the point of this page is to list those that I have evidence do or may use them.
I am always looking for new information to put here, so if you gather evidence about one of the practices below or find a new practice that might use them, please contact me using the 'Contact' page on the navigation bar - all help appreciated!
Please be aware this is not an endorsement of these practices and a practice being listed here is not a guarantee that you will receive correct or quality treatment. I am not a dental professional and have no qualifications or indeed desire to comment on these aspects. If you decide to make an appointment at any of these practices, you are taking the same risk you would any time you do so at a new dentist. All this is telling you is whether they use bibs - for everything else, do your own research first.
This does not yet include the Republic of Ireland - this will be added at a later date however, stay tuned.
London and the South East

Bibs appear sporadically in social media posts but last did so quite recently so will say yes

Recent social media evidence seems to lead to the answer of yes

Still occasional social media posts in which the bib is almost always seen so yes

Direct evidence from 2022, unknown since then as social media presence does not involve within the practice itself.

Recent (2023) evidence so yes

Plenty of evidence pre-COVID, nothing since, they don't have any real online presence so difficult to say. A possibility I suppose but not based on any concrete evidence

Odd one - among their very very limited social media is a picture showing a plastic bib hanging on a chair (from 2023). No evidence other than that. A possibility.

Definitely did pre-COVID, total radio silence since. No idea.
South West and West England, and Wales

UPDATE - they appear to no longer use plastic bibs, can't be 100% certain of that but evidence suggests they are no longer one to go to for plastic bibs.
Beechwood Dental, Bournemouth, Dorset
Direct evidence of use immediately following the first lockdown but absolutely nothing since. No evidence for three years means I can't say for this one.
Sturminster Dental, Sturminster, Dorset
Definitely did pre-COVID, but no evidence at all since. Again, radio silence means impossible to say.

Did pre-COVID, not a shred of evidence since. No idea.

Definitely did pre-COVID, since it's unsure - they've posted a lot and not a single one has been visible but there hasn't been evidence otherwise either. Inclined to say no but not impossible.

A photo on their website shows a plastic bib but they have no social media presence so difficult to say for sure.

Most recent direct evidence 2022. Given their prolific use that continued through covid willing to say a possibility but with no certainty

Very recent direct evidence so willing to say yes. I think they may have two practices though and not sure it applies to both, and they're part of a chain that as a rule doesn't use them which further confuses things

About as certain as I can be (bibs are clearly visible in very recent social media posts). This doesn't appear to be for every procedure though, possible that hygienists tend to use paper ones but this is difficult to tell just from social media
