Would you like to go to a dentist and wear a plastic bib for your appointment?
Well, unfortunately, it's not quite that simple, as most dental practices in the UK do not use them anymore. However, there are several that still do, and the point of this page is to list those that I have evidence do or may use them.
I am always looking for new information to put here, so if you gather evidence about one of the practices below or find a new practice that might use them, please contact me using the 'Contact' page on the navigation bar - all help appreciated!
Please be aware this is not an endorsement of these practices and a practice being listed here is not a guarantee that you will receive correct or quality treatment. I am not a dental professional and have no qualifications or indeed desire to comment on these aspects. If you decide to make an appointment at any of these practices, you are taking the same risk you would any time you do so at a new dentist. All this is telling you is whether they use bibs - for everything else, do your own research first.
This does not yet include the Republic of Ireland - this will be added at a later date however, stay tuned.
Practices with evidence of bib use since COVID
Rothley Lodge Dental, Staines, Surre
I am absolutely certain with any doubt they do use plastic bibs
Sandown Dental, Belfast, NI
About as certain as I can be (bibs are clearly visible in very recent social media posts). This doesn't appear to be for every procedure though, possible that hygienists tend to use paper ones but this is difficult to tell just from social media
Epsom Dental Centre, Epsom, Surrey
Last direct evidence end of 2022, but given that and how they have been very prolific users in the past willing to say yes.
Manor Park Dental / Green Street Dental, East London
Last direct evidence autumn 2022, but given that and how they have been very prolific users in the past (bearing in mind their social media presence is entirely post-covid) willing to say yes
Queens Court Dental Practice, Ayr, Scotland
Very recent direct evidence, so yes
Darwenside Dental, Darwen, England
About a year ago it was absolutely certain they did, now I'm not sure, been little evidence suggesting it but not really any suggesting otherwise either. Compounded by the fact they're part of a chain (and thus their social media uses posts from other practices) they appear to be the only practice in the chain to have ever used them. Uncertain about this one, on the lookout for further evidence.
St Annes Dental Clinic, Lytham St Annes, Lancashire,
Recent direct evidence so answer currently seems to be yes
Clyde Valley Dental Practice, Lanarkshire, Scotland
Most recent direct evidence 2022. Given their prolific use that continued through covid willing to say a possibility but with no certainty
Caledonian Dental Care, Perth, Scotland
Very recent direct evidence so willing to say yes. I think they may have two practices though and not sure it applies to both, and they're part of a chain that as a rule doesn't use them which further confuses things
Blue Dental, Croydon, London
Recent social media evidence and anecdotal evidence so looks likely
The Vale Dental Practice, Golders Green, London (also known as Londn Veneers)
Up until very recently was a cert, but now I'm not too sure, some evidence they may have stopped, but this could have been like a one off. Uncertain.
Emergency Dentist London/Heathrow (or The Practice on the Green), Feltham, London
Direct evidence of use in early 2022 but otherwise they have next to no online presence so impossible to say. A possibility but no more than that.
Elm Park Dental, Hornchurch, London, England
Direct evidence about a year but given they had bugger all online presence until very very recently impossible to say beyond that. Will keep an eye on this one.
North Road Dental Surgery, Boldon, Tyneside
An odd one as I've never seen any direct evidence myself but have been told about it. The person it came from would have had incentive to lie about it but then maybe not, difficult to say. Impossible to know really.
Abbeymead Dental, Chertsey, Surrey
Strong second hand evidence related to me but not seen any myself. Willing to say yes on the basis of said evidence.
Claremont Dental, Seaford, East Sussex
Recent evidence so yes
No evidence within past two/three years but a possibility remains - no practices that definitely stopped after COVID are listed
Langmans Dental, Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire
Very prolific and reliable users pre-COVID, basically total radio silence since. I reckon they don't use them anymore but I can't be anything like certain of that.
City Smile, Hackney, London
Plenty of evidence pre-COVID, nothing since, they don't have any real online presence so difficult to say. A possibility I suppose but not based on any concrete evidence
Beechwood Dental, Bournemouth, Dorset
Direct evidence of use immediately following the first lockdown but absolutely nothing since. No evidence for three years means I can't say for this one.
Sturminster Dental, Sturminster, Dorset
Definitely did pre-COVID, but no evidence at all since. Again, radio silence means impossible to say.
City Dental, Leicester, Leicestershire
Definitely did pre-COVID, radio silence since. Impossible to say today.
kindanddental, North London
Definitely did pre-COVID, radio silence since. Impossible to say today.
Goodwins & Associates, Cockermouth, Cumbria
Definitely did pre-COVID, since it's unsure - they've posted a lot and not a single one has been visible but there hasn't been evidence otherwise either. Inclined to say no but not impossible.
Your Perfect Smile, Aviemore, Scotland
Definitely did pre-COVID, not a shred of evidence since. No idea.
The Bridges Dental, Caldicot, England
Did pre-COVID, not a shred of evidence since. No idea.
